The Surf Report #46

ON THE ROCKS DVD
Imagine a surfer friendly 'Alpha Course' style DVD with solid gospel content delivered by surfers for surfers. Imagine 'On the Rocks' surf evangelism video resource. With footage shot, the first unit completed, and small group notes being produced, this project is nearly completed. Roy Harley says "We are so close to finishing and Jonty has done an amazing job, but finances are the last hurdle." $2000 is needed immediately to repay staff and another $10,000 by the end of May. Go to www.ontherocksdvd.info. Would you consider being one of the 12 giving $1,000 or 24 giving $500 each to help Roy and our South African team complete this and better serve our world movement? ISA WORLD JUNIOR GAMES NEW ZEALAND
Matt Foster reports from the recent Games, "Myself and Mel were official ISA workers and set up, served judges, guarded tents, and helped with security throughout the whole event. We also had a CS tent in the public space where we could be more overt in handing out Surfers Bibles, literature and talk to many, many people. Surfing NZ were very happy with the CS presence and we met many nations, encouraging them and being ambassadors. Stoked!"

JAPAN MISSION TO TAIWAN
"I never imagined that Japan would become a sending mission nation and am so stoked" says national CS leader David Levey. Seven guys joined to serve the CS contact in Taiwan, Chris Chon, and put on three premiere screenings of the 'Walking on Water' movie, handed out DVD's, surf-coached and made many friends.

FRENCH SURF MISSION HOUSE
Christophe Parenty reports that his family had a busy summer with their original house converted to a Surfpackers. They have another big old house that a partner has invested in and purchased which they plan to renovate and operate a second hostel out of. They would love a team to come help with this. The hostels will be open from June 1st to September 30th. For more information visit their website

COSTA RICA NATIONAL LEADERSHIP GATHERING
Cal Fisher reports, "Costa Rica held its first national gathering in January and it is now a full indigenous leadership with 5 chapters in all. Dennis Leon is doing a great job taking over from Coky and we are seeing a national movement being birthed."

SPAIN'S FIRST NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Shane Sparks reports, "We were stoked to have 18 people out of our 35 contacts to date from all over Spain attend our first gathering. Many were much younger than expected (even as young as 15), which is very exciting for us. I believe we will see a Spanish movement established. We're also excited to have 4 new contacts in the Canary Islands."

SOUTH AFRICA INTERNSHIP
Roy Harley says, "This is our second year of running the 9 month internship program, and we have three fresh new interns, including an Aussie. We do orientation, training, placement and practical application that will ensure these guys are tooled up to do better in CS leadership. More foreigners are welcome in 2011!" USA PRAYER MONTH
CSUS National Director Dean Plumlee has released some cool video clips encouraging their leadership and also calling them to prayer for the month of February. This is a great initiative. Check out their website and get the prayer calendar if you're interested. Watch the videos on the Christian Surfers Vimeo channel.

CSI CALENDAR ERROR
We are very sorry to report that there is an error in this year's CSI Prayer Calender. In the month of May the days and dates are not aligned correctly. The offending graphic designer has been duly dropped in on repeatedly.

CSI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2010, SE ASIA
This will be the 9th international gathering of the CS leadership. Get the brochures from your national leader or check info on our website and remember that this is a restricted access nation and security is important.

LEADERSHIP LINEUP
One of Christian Surfers International's main goals is the raising of strong leaders around the world. To this end we produce a bi-monthly newsletter in the opposite months to the Surf Report called the Leadership Lineup, full of helpful tips and encouragement for leaders of all descriptions.
