International Gathering T-Shirts
When planning our Gathering we wanted to try to do things well from the bottom to the top. Part of that effort included having our t-shirts made ethically - beyond that however, we found a way to also make them empowering. Using our Groundswell Aid project Aleph Surf, we had our shirts handmade in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, providing paid work for local people there, while providing us with better quality products than we otherwise would have had. They may have cost us a little more, but it was well worth it!
Cuando estabamos planeando el Encuentro, queríamos tratar de hacer las cosas bien, desde abajo hasta arriba. Parte de ese esfuerzo incluyó la fabricación de las camisetas, que fueran hechas de manera ética - pero resultó que también se convirtieron en una forma de apoderar a otros. Al usar nuestro proyecto Aleph Surf de Groundswell Aid, las camisas fueron hechas a mano en Jeffreys Bay, Sudáfrica, así proporcionando trabajo remunerado a la población local, y al mismo tiempo proporcionandonos productos de mejor calidad de los que hubiéramos tenido. Puede que nos hayan costado un poco más, ¡pero valió la pena!
