Roy Harley
International Director
"I was at an international Christian Surfers conference where we had been challenged to seek God about where he wanted us to go, and which tribe he wanted us to reach. In front of me were over 100 surfers from numerous nations lost in worship. Just then BD the founder of our movement came alongside me putting his arm around my shoulder and looking at the crowd he said, 'This is the pearl of Great Price Roy this is the true treasure in a field.' Rarely have I felt God's Spirit speak so clearly to me as he did at that moment. I knew the surf tribe was the one he wanted me to share his love with, and I have been trying to do that ever since.”Roy was the pioneering National Director of CS South Africa and has been in full-time ministry for most of his adult life. A visionary social entrepreneur at heart, Roy is married to Sharon with daughter Cailyn and son Nathan. When asked what his job is he will tell you it's the International Froth Cultivator for Christian Surfers. If he's not answering his phone, it's likely he is in a 'Board Meeting' in the ocean, riding his favourite wave, Supertubes, Jeffreys Bay.

Casey Cruciano
Operations Manager
Casey has been a part of Christian Surfers since the late 90s, having served as a local mission director before taking the plunge into full-time staff with CSUS in 2005. After filling a finance role with them for a decade, Casey and his family joined the newly formed CSI office in Jeffreys Bay. Brett Davis
Founder/Adviser
Brett pioneered the Christian Surfers movement in Australia as their first National Director in 1983, then pioneered the international movement since 1999. As an unchurched surfer he was reached by a fellow surfer and wants other surfers to have the same opportunity. He brings a lifetime of experience and contacts and is forever networking with CS and other agencies worldwide. He is still surfing, diving and adventuring, and has a secret outlet in wood-turning and gardening. He believes his far greater achievement is his wife Gillian persisting with him for over 20 years. Phil Williams
EMEA Area Facilitator, Europe Regional Coordinator, CSUK National Director
Phil has been the founding UK Director since 1999, works full-time with CSUK and has looked after the development of CS in Europe for over 15 years. Passionate, energetic and fun-loving with his local surf break 25km inland at the Severn Bore, Phil was formerly a leading manager in Exel Logistics and applies his skills in networking and leadership throughout UK and beyond. Married for 30 years to wonder wife Annie, he has two kids, Abi and Joseph. Phil loves the Chelsea football team, photography and Croyde low tide barrels.
Kirk Beyer
APAC Regional Coordinator
My parents named me “Kirk” which means “of the church”. This has resonated through my life because for as long as I can remember I’ve lived and breathed a deep love for the Church, Gods people. And by God-incidence I met my soul mate Mel who lives and breathes the same love. Together we have four amazing and adventurous groms. As a family we see this new chapter of co- laboring with the Holy Spirit and with Christian Surfers as a pleasure and profound privilege. Getting barrelled around the globe of course is an added bonus. We are so excited to serve the nations in the Asia and Pacific region and witness Gods reality change lives!
Luis Gutierrez
Spanish Caribbean Regional Coordinator
Luis first started surfing in 1988 and in 1998 he started sharing with Venezuelan surfers about Jesus. After some major challenges, including a natural disaster in his hometown, he continued with the surfing mission and Surfistas de Cristo Venezuela affiliated with Christian Surfers in 2003. Luis worked for 15 years hosting a radio show and 10 years as a sports commnentator for public TV. He has been involved with the global sports movement since 2007 and served with different sports ministries; a surfer who loves many different sports! He is married to Iza and together they have one son, Luisito, and two daughters, Izabella and Iza Mirela. Luis recently started serving full time in ministry, along with surf coaching for beginners, especially kids. Aldo Ventura
South America Regional Coordinator
Learning to surf in 2002 when he was 37, Aldo may have been a late-bloomer as a surfer, but as Christian since 1980 he brought maturity as the National Director of CS Peru before taking on the Regional Coordinator role at the beginning of 2012. Accompanied by his wife Estela and daughters Antonella and Camila, Aldo lives in Punta Hermosa which is one of the most popular surfing crossroads in Peru, near the massive city of Lima where the family attend Christian Missionary Alliance church. Aldo would also like everyone to know he is a regular-footer and local of Caballeros Beach which is a very nice right point.
Rehgert van Zyl
Africa Regional Coordinator
Rehgert hails from South Africa and lives in the surfing town of Jeffreys Bay. Originally dreaming to be a game ranger, he had a change of direction and went the route of anthropology, the study of people. Passionate to see real lasting change in the lives of people, he worked for different NGO's before starting his own organization, Aleph Surf, in 2007. Aleph Surf focuses on community development through surfing. He has been involved in local CS missions since 2005 and went to his first International Gathering in 2008. Married to the beautiful and uber-talented Californian Vanessa, they combine their passions to share the good news of the Kingdom wherever they go. Both being well traveled and a passion for people and culture, you will probably find them sampling different types of humus with locals, steaming in an onsen bath or driving down some obscure dirt road in their trusty Toyota.
Wes Hewson
English Caribbean Regional Coordinator
Wes has been involved with and helped lead the local tribe of CS Daytona Beach for almost 10 years. He loves the ocean and enjoys surfing the beachbreaks that Daytona Beach offers. Through passion for Jesus and surfing, he hopes to expand CS throughout the Caribbean Region. Wes works as a Materials Coordinator for Volusia County Government and plans on retiring after 39 years of service to pursue connecting surfers with Jesus in the Caribbean.
Andre & Yvette Holl
Indian Ocean Regional Coordinator
Andre and Yvette Holl have lived in Mauritius for 10 years. They founded Hope House, an NGO that focuses on skills development and mentoring. They have a passion to see people of all ages, given hope and an opportunity for their futures. This is expressed through Salt Surfers, a surf program for young disadvantaged youth, a carpentry and sewing skills program, a Girls Make Waves Surf group for women, a weekly discipleship group for young people and ASA, a carpentry project in Madagascar. Further afield, they work with an orphanage in Malawi. Taking every opportunity to share the love of Jesus, every day counts. They love what they do, and count it a privilege to engage with the beautiful people of these countries. Their tribe is a crazy bunch of 4 sons, 2 daughter-in-law's, 5 grandchildren, a dog and a cat.
Gordy Webb
Pacific Regional Coordinator
Gordy has been involved in CS for 26 years at local, national and international levels. Having previously been Pacific Regional Coordinator for 6 years, Gordy has recently re-taken up the roll, sharing the nations with Nev Wells. Gordy has been doing mission trips to the Pacific Islands for the past 11 years, visiting Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Samoa and Tahiti. He is married to Jean and together they live in Raglan, New Zealand and have two married children, Angie and Stephen, with one grandchild and a second on the way. When he's not working Gordy can be found with family and friends or in the ocean.

Paul Boonzaaier
Board Chairman
Paul lives near Dee Why Beach, Australia with his wife Di and their carved wooden Balinese cat. In between providing commercial legal solutions for clients, he can be found working out how to escape the confines of his office to surf the North Shore whilst keeping clients happy. He hails from Surf City (aka Durban), South Africa, and for the last 20 years has been based in Sydney, Australia. In recent years Paul and Di have been spending a good part of the year on the North Shore. Paul is a member of C3 Church in Oxford Falls, Sydney, where he co-leads a business connect group, and attends The Mission North Shore while in Hawaii.
Mark Sawyer-Chu
Board Member
Mark has worked 17+ years in the surf & advertising industry. He has worked for Surfline.com, Surfer Magazine, Surfing Magazine, Adaptive Surfing Magazine and several others. He also led the LA South Bay chapter of Christian Surfers USA for several years. Mark worked closely with CSUS to strengthen partnerships with Walking On Water, Hurley, Channel Islands, Dragon, SURFER, Life Rolls On, Surfrider Foundation, etc. as well as help lead the national Paddle for Daisy Merrick event. He retains his ties to the surf industry through the surf site, TheInertia.com. Mark is currently running his own action sports marketing company in California. Mark met his wife, Lydia, at the 2016 CS International Conference in Australia. They married 5 months later and now split their time between California and the Canary Islands where they have the B&B guest house, Oasis Surf House.
Kock de Vries
Board Member
Kock grew up in a beautiful little fishing village in The Netherlands. After marrying his wife Rianne they ran into CS during a trip around the world. They and some other Dutchies met Phil Williams at the CSUK National Gathering and God put a fire in their hearts and that is how CS Holland started. Growing up at the beach Kock got the stoke for surfing at an early age and he turned out to be a real waterman. He just loves to ride waves on a longboard or SUP, kite surf and swim in the beautiful, murky North Sea. Kock and Rianne have two kids, Lizze and Yannick. After finishing his Master Degree in Economics at the Uni of Amsterdam, Kock is in Risk Management in the insurance industry. His experience in a multicultural company for many years helped him to accept the role of Board member of CSI mid 2017. He feels privileged and grateful to be able to serve the CSI mission and work together with such a great team!
Ruthie Salcedo
Board Member
Ruthie loves the beach and met CS in 2004 in Peru, where she lives. Even though she doesn't surf, she has been involved with the CS Peru ministry for many years. She is an economist with a Master of Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University (USA). Her professional background is related to the public sector in tax and customs, health care social security and international cooperation projects. She has been a Christian since she was 11, and most of her Christian service has been in youth and adult counseling, as well as Bible teaching (20+ years). She has also trained at the Haggai Institute for transcultural mission, and is committed to support CS with her talents in order not only to reach the surfing community for the Lord, but also help the CS community keep in the Christian path. She recently married lifelong surfer Max Cardenas, who is also involved with CS Peru.
Jonathan Mak
Board Member
Jonathan says, "I don't surf and can't swim very well." He has been involved with the CSI board for over 17 years now, having started with the board just as the organization was pivoting internationally. He has a background in international sales and marketing and more recently finance and investing. Currently an angel investor with a specific focus on start-ups, in fields that span from farming to IT to movie production. Married to Liz, they live in Sydney. He collects "everything!" ... "My life is one big random joyful mess knowing and following my Maker!"
Eric Arakawa
Board Member
Eric lives and runs his surfboard business on the North Shore, Hawaii. He attends and serves at The Mission North Shore where he teaches the Bible to 4-6 year olds. Eric and his wife helped host the first two CS International Conferences back in 1993 & 1995. He is married to Sue with three adult children.
Nic Gilmour
Board Member
Having grown up in Western Australia, & now finding himself in North County San Diego, Nic has been a follower of Jesus since 1984, partnered with the incredible V for three decades, & dad to supa-groms Mo, Tino and Evey for enough time to know that fathering is better – & far more exacting – than he ever could've dreamed. He coaches (rugby), mentors (people who'll far exceed him), surfs (regularly tho poorly), & eats pizza (ok, too much). To V’s dismay, he doesn't like kale. At all. Since moving to SoCal in 2013, at North Coast Calvary (his spiritual home), Mission Increase (his vocational home), & Oceanside (his beach-home), Nic spends much of his time shepherding apostolic types – ‘those who take on hell with a squirt gun.’ Through life, community & hard-lessons (typically involving God kindly giving Nic a brick to the head) he's more convinced now than ever that the only worthwhile spirituality is one with boots on, that walks.
