Serving Jamaica

Story and photos by Wes Hewson

Christian Surfers were invited to come serve at the 9th annual Makka Pro in late July 2015 in Jamaica. Beau Warren and Wes Hewson flew down from CS Daytona Beach in Florida to help with the contest. This was an exciting opportunity for CS since it was the first time to serve at the contest in Jamaica. The contest was a well run pro event with most of the talent coming from Jamaica.

This gave us a awesome opportunity to meet, fellowship and build relationships with the local Jamaican surf culture. We stayed at Jamnesia which is home base for the Jamaican Surfing Association. CS Daytona Beach was able to bring three surfboards to donate to local Jamaicans, who are much in need of new surfboards. We were blessed to have the Jamaican surfers give us a warm welcome. This was the perfect venue to see and meet many of the local surfers.

We had the opportunity to attend a Bible study at one of the local churches one night. Continue to pray for the Lord to do work in Jamaica and plant some seeds. We were invited back for next year's contest and plan on serving again.
