Surfing Into the Unreached
I never imagined that a cup of coffee and a surfboard would change my life forever.
I grew up in a traditional Taiwanese family practicing ancestor worship, never hearing the full gospel—until a group of American missionaries opened a coffee shop in my neighborhood. Their faith went beyond Sunday church, and that summer, I gave my life to Jesus and felt a deep calling to missions.
That same summer, I discovered surfing. It wasn’t just a sport—it became a bridge to connect with people. Over time, I realized surfing could also be a gateway to places where Jesus is barely known.
Taiwan’s Surfing Movement: A Mission Field in the Making
Surfing is still new in Taiwan, which gives us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: to shape its culture with Jesus at the center from the very beginning.
As Asians, we share cultural values and unspoken understandings that help us build trust and meaningful relationships across the region. By working alongside our global church family, we can bring the gospel to places where it has never been before.
But we can’t do this alone.
Join the Mission
This year, I have the opportunity to attend the Christian Surfers International Gathering in Indonesia—a key event to strengthen our network, learn from experienced leaders, and build partnerships that will expand the gospel’s reach in Asia. By being there, I can better equip myself and our team in Taiwan for the next season of ministry.
Your giving helps move this vision forward—raising up surfers to bring Jesus into unreached communities. Would you consider partnering with me today?
*Each donation will be met with a matching gift courtesy of Christian Surfers (up to $500AUD per nominee).
*If a team member can't attend the Gathering, their raised funds will be allocated to support other leaders fundraising for the event.
