Go Uncharted
GO UNCHARTED
An initiative to plant and support new Christian Surfers communities in places we’ve never been before.
Every great adventure begins by stepping into the unknown. For Christian Surfers, that means answering the call to reach surfers in places we've never been before. Below, International Director Roy Harley shares the heart behind UNCHARTEDand the bold vision that drives it.
This is our mission, and we need you with us!
Dear Friend,
When driving from my house in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, to surf ‘Supertubes’, I take Da Gama Road. I seldom think about this well-trodden path, but the road name is iconic precisely because it was Vasco da Gama who went uncharted.
In the 15th century, the edge of the map wasn’t just a line; it was a warning! The Atlantic was called the Sea of Darkness, and the waters around the southern tip of Africa were a complete mystery.
Many believed it was the edge of the world or that the waters beyond boiled in the sun. Yet in 1497, Vasco da Gama did the unthinkable. Something akin to going to Mars today. Everything in him must have whispered, turn back. But he didn’t. He pushed into the unknown, the uncharted, and it changed the world.
Stepping into the unknown has always been costly. But worth it!
Christian Surfers is stepping into our own uncharted waters.
UNCHARTED is an initiative to plant and support new Christian Surfers communities in places we’ve never been before. We’re called to see that every surfer and every surfing community has the opportunity to know and follow Jesus. We have set ourselves a mammoth goal to be in 100 countries by 2030. Today, we have 40 affiliated nations and an additional 20 other countries listed as emerging.
We need your help to go Uncharted, to take the good news of Jesus to surfers where surf culture is just beginning, and we are doing this in two ways:
ONE: We are building an Uncharted groundswell of global ambassadors supporting us at $9.00 per month.
TWO: We have a generous donor who has committed $15,000 in a matching gift to help us build out the digital infrastructure to support and equip new start-ups.
Thank you for standing with us :)
Every Blessing,
Roy Harley,
CS International Director.
