What goes on in Jeffreys Bay each year?
While in South Africa, we will be reconnecting with the fellow CS staffers, and it is an international crossroads for visiting surfers and ministry leaders. We will also be serving locally and with our partner ministries, like Wave Point Foundation, the Mom & Baby Clinic, and the JBay Recycling Project.
Personally, we’ve grown to love spending our summers there (even thought it’s actually southern hemisphere winter). We reconnect with old friends, our church, and of course Ezra & Caris love their time there as well.
It is a major blessing that we do not take for granted!
What else happens in South Africa in 2026?
We will be hosting a leadership event in June in Jeffrey’s Bay. This is a small group of executive-level leadership who will pray, plan, and strategize (in that order) for the road ahead in Christian Surfers. We do this about every 3 years in JBay, and they always prove to be a fruitful time of personal connection and looking forward.
How much does it cost?
The figure below is for our travel to South Africa and vehicle costs while in Jeffrey’s Bay. Thankfully, our lodging is all covered, so we don’t have that to worry about.

Our total expenses are roughly equivalent to the distance from North Carolina to South Africa, so our theme here is to “sponsor a mile” of our journey! Actual miles from our house in Kill Devil Hills, NC, to our home in Jeffreys Bay to Bali is 8,080 mi as the crow flies (that would be one tired crow, haha).
