What is New Swell?

New Swell is a proven leadership training camp framework developed within Christian Surfers Australia and New Zealand. For the past decade, it has operated as an intentional pipeline—taking surfers with raw potential and equipping them to become active staff, local chapter planters, and core ministry leaders.

Rather than a typical "sit-and-listen" conference, New Swell is a fully immersive, hands-on environment. Christian Surfers International is now activating a global rollout, making this framework available to national directors and key leaders who want to raise up the next generation of core leaders on their home beaches.

How the Framework Works

The New Swell curriculum is designed to be highly relatable and deeply adaptable to your local context:

Anchored in CSI Core Values: The core curriculum unpacks foundational CS values—including Servant-Hearted, Gospel Centred, Surfers, People of Integrity and Inclusive. As well as some extra essential leadership values: Leadership Health, Innovators, and Holiness.
Customised for Your Region: While the baseline values remain, the schedule leaves intentional space for your national leadership team to inject sessions, cultural nuances, and regional focuses specific to your mission field.

A Day at New Swell (Typical Camp Flow)

New Swell balances spiritual equipping with the natural rhythms of surf culture. A standard day at camp splits the focus between community connection and raw training:

Mornings (Wide Open): Time kept entirely clear for dawn patrol surf sessions, organic connection, and exploring the local coastline together.
12:00 PM — Lunch: Gathering the tribe to refuel and share stories from the morning.
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM — Intensive Training: Core curriculum workshops, interactive sessions based on CSI values, and intentional small group debriefs to process the content.
6:00 PM — Dinner: Casual group dinners focused on tribal connection.
7:30 PM — Nights: Combined worship, corporate prayer, and strategic national planning times to map out local initiatives.
