Namibia Outreach

For the past six years CS South Africa have organised annual mission trips to our neighbouring country of Namibia, to reach out to the small, tight surfing community and to establish a local chapter in the small town of Swakopmunt.
To date we haven’t found traction for an ongoing local chapter, however we are always well received by the local crew and good friendships have been built over the years. More recently we have joined efforts with Christian Skaters & Skimboarders for these trips and every time it turns out to be such a great combination for this outreach.
We work alongside a local adventure sports brand, Element Riders, in running surf clinics for the groms, surf and skimboarding contests as well as a national skate comp. All of this takes place during the August school holidays. These are the only contests run in Namibia and the locals are always very appreciative of our efforts in organising these events. We were amped to find the local skateboarders taking the initiative this year to organise the skate event themselves and for us just to serve in the background.
This year’s trip was again a time of seeing God doing amazing things using our small team of three in the surfing and skating community. From His provision for our accommodation and local transport (even on the flight there we still didn’t have it sorted!), to seeing dramatic restoration in broken family relationships, kids surrendering their lives to Jesus and others being strengthened and encouraged in their faith and even just to continue to build friendships in this awesome community - these are all reasons why we are passionate to continue to return every year.
Praise be to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
Prayer Points:
- Praise God for the work HE continues to do in the lives of these surfers, skimmers and skaters and allowing CSSA to be part of it
- Pray for the people whose lives have been impacted during the trip
- Pray for a local chapter to be established to ensure continuation and follow-through of the work we do once a year
Por los últimos seis años CS Sudáfrica ha organizado un viaje de misiones a el país vecino de Namibia, para alcanzar la comunidad local de surfistas que se esta formando y establecer un capitulo local en el pueblo de Swakopmunt.
A la fecha no hemos podido establecer el capitulo local, sin embargo siempre somos bien recibidos por los locales y hemos formado buenas relaciones con el pasar de los años. Últimamente hemos estado trabajando en conjunto con Christian Skaters & Skimboarders en estos viajes y han sido un gran apoyo al salir a ministrar juntos.
Trabajamos con una marca local de deportes, Element Riders, haciendo clínicas de Surf para los niños, campeonatos de surf y skimboard y también un campeonato de skate nacional. Todo esto ocurre en el mes de Agosto durante las vacaciones. Estos son los únicos campeonatos que se hacen en Namibia y los locales aprecian mucho nuestros esfuerzos en organizar los eventos. Estamos feliz de ver a los skaters locales tomar la iniciativa de organizar el evento de skate ahora y nosotros simplemente tener un rol secundario.
El viaje este año era un tiempo de ver a Dios hacer cosas increíbles usando nuestro pequeño equipo de tres personas de la comunidad de surf y skate. Su provisión para nuestro alojamiento y transporte (incluso durante el vuelo no lo tenían muy claro), ver la restauración dramática de relaciones familiares quebrantadas, chicos rindiendo sus vidas a Jesús y otros siendo fortalecidos y animados en su fe, incluso el simple hecho de seguir construyendo amistades en esta comunidad increíble – estas son todas razones que nos apasiona seguir volviendo todos los anios.

- Gracias a Dios por la obra que el sigue haciendo en la vida de estos surfistas, skimmers y skaters y por permitir a CSSA ser parte de eso.
- Orar por las vidas que han sido impactadas por este viaje.
- Orar que se establezca un capitulo local para continuar y afirmar el trabajo que hemos hecho en estos viajes anuales.
