Healing Hands

It’s pretty crazy to think that once Jesus was resurrected and ascended into heaven, the apostles just started preaching and doing miracles without Him physically being there. Yet people continued to get healed spiritually and physically. The apostles were humans just like us, they weren’t qualified or trained, they were just empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, worked through them and acted as extensions of God’s hands. What’s so different today?

Nothing!

God still moves among us when we seek Him! When we go out and bring ourselves to Him, He is calmly there waiting. He is always accessible when we call upon Him. God is patiently hopeful for our community. When we reject Him, push Him off or don’t give Him time, He STILL continues to be there with open hands and a heart breaking for you. We are more than His people, we are His children, His creation, and He loves us. God wants to see us succeed and is waiting for us to say “Here I am, Lord send me”!

So take this message to heart next time you are in the lineup or you are in your surfing community. Imagine God opening His hands and His heart to us, and see the brokenness of those around you. We may not encounter someone who needs a physical miracle, like what the disciples encountered, but maybe they are broken on the inside and just need someone to be an extension of God’s hands to them. The Holy Spirit operates through us and there are so many people out there who are hoping to be touched by God’s healing and loving hands. You can say something like this “I am a Christian and I love to pray for people, is there anything you would like me to pray for right now?” and do it with them! There is nothing that God can’t do, you may be surprised to see the power of God’s hand as He shows up in these moments.

It doesn’t have to be fancy, it doesn’t have to come from a trained and qualified person, it just has to come from a willing disciple who loves to surf.
