Stepping Out in Faith

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Love this story of Zacchaeus! Zacchaeus was a tax collector and therefore, was a man of means. Wealthy even. But Zacchaeus encountered Jesus and believed. And his resulting action showed his faith in the Son of Man.

Zacchaeus followed up his belief with action. “Here and now” he says... “I give half of my possessions to the poor...”

What a beautiful response of sacrifice to faith in Jesus.

Jesus said that if anyone wants to be his disciple must lay down their lives, pick up their cross and follow Him. And Zacchaeus did just that.

This month on the Christian Surfers comms calendar, we are unpacking the concept of ‘stepping out in faith’. Faith in Jesus requires action. To change the way we live. We are born into a new life. And this inspires us to live differently. Where is God challenging you to #StepOutInFaith!?
