Go Uncharted

The theme for Christian Surfers in 2026 is: Go Uncharted.

It’s inspired by Acts, chapter 1. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples over 40 days, teaching them about the kingdom of God. Yet, even after all they had witnessed; the miracles, the crucifixion, the resurrection, and these appearances the disciples still viewed the world through a nationalistic Israel-centric lens. They asked Him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”

Their idea of God's kingdom was political and geographic. But Jesus redirected their vision: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

After this, Jesus ascended. Only when the Holy Spirit filled them at Pentecost did the penny FINALLY drop: God’s kingdom is not a physical domain. It is the active rule and reign of Christ in our lives. We enter it by submitting to His call, allowing His character to transform us, and in doing so, impacting the world around us. This is how the kingdom spreads.

And so, the call for 2026 is to Go Uncharted. It starts with allowing Christ to transform us into His image. Then, as we go, we carry His influence into ever-widening circles, first into our immediate spaces, then into the surrounding world, and ultimately to the ends of the earth.

As we head into 2026, ask yourself: What changes are you making to submit to Jesus’ rule in your life? And what is your Jerusalem (your local surf spot), your Judea (your not so far off surf trip), your Samaria (the unfamiliar or challenging places), and your ends of the earth (That wave that no one’s ever heard of)!
